Split the card, don’t blend it
Jerry Lewis as Jerry Langford in The King of Comedy (1982) is a good daily calibration card because it punishes one-number thinking. Community scores are still forming — but aggregates hide arguments.
Where readers usually agree
On this performance, Screen Presence and Character Believability tend to carry the most heat. That is the part people remember without prompting.
Where honest disagreement lives
the dimension you keep skipping is where good-faith splits should live. If you cannot explain why someone scored the dimension you keep skipping differently, you are comparing vibes, not craft.
One-sentence discipline
Finish this sentence before you lock a score: "Jerry Lewis earns Screen Presence and Character Believability in the scene where ______, but the dimension you keep skipping wobbles when ______."
Open the card
Jerry Lewis in The King of Comedy — compare your dimension weights to the community, not to Twitter consensus.
Score it on the five criteria
- Emotional Range & Depth — what feeling survives past the trailer?
- Character Believability — did you forget the actor, or only the brand?
- Performance Quality — voice, body, timing: name one precise choice.
- Screen Presence — who held the room when the plot stopped helping?
- Chemistry & Interaction — who changed someone else's temperature?
If you cannot answer at least two bullets with a scene, your score is still a draft.
Quick-rate once if you must, then break it down after one quiet scene. Edit later only if a concrete beat changed your mind — not if the timeline did.
